Radius Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy in Lower Sackville

Pain that will not settle, a joint that does not move the way it used to, an injury that keeps coming back. Physiotherapy is about working out why, and then doing something about it. You do not need a referral in Nova Scotia, and we book from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, so treatment does not have to cost you a day off work.

What physiotherapy actually involves

Physiotherapy starts with an assessment, not a treatment. We look at how you move, what is strong, what is stiff and what is actually driving the symptom, which is often not where it hurts. From there you get a plan: hands-on treatment in the clinic, and the exercise work that makes the change hold once you leave.

The goal is not only to get you comfortable. It is to get you back to the thing you stopped doing, and to make it less likely you end up back here with the same problem.

What to expect at your first visit

Your first appointment is a full assessment. We want to hear what happened, what you have already tried and what you are trying to get back to. You will get a clear explanation of what is going on and a realistic timeline rather than a vague one.

Treatment usually starts the same visit, and you will leave with something to do between appointments. You will also see the same physiotherapist each time, which matters more than people expect. Progress is measured against where you were three weeks ago, and that only works when someone actually remembers.

Why book physiotherapy at Radius

You see the same physiotherapist through your whole course of treatment. Appointments are unhurried, because hands-on work and a proper explanation both take time. And because our physiotherapists, massage therapists and acupuncturist all work under one roof, we can combine approaches when it helps rather than sending you across town.

We will also be straight with you about timelines. If six weeks is not realistic, we will say so.

Coverage and billing

No referral is needed to see a physiotherapist in Nova Scotia, so you can book directly. Physiotherapy is covered under most extended health plans, and we direct bill most insurance companies, so in most cases you pay only your portion at the end of the visit. We also treat injuries covered by motor vehicle accident and workplace claims, so if you were hurt in a car accident or on the job, we can look after that too. If you are not sure where you stand, call us and we will help you check.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

No. Physiotherapy is direct access in Nova Scotia. Some insurance plans ask for one before they will reimburse, so it is worth checking your own policy.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the problem and how long it has been going on. You will get an honest estimate at your first visit and we will update it as you progress, rather than selling you a block of sessions up front.

Will it hurt?

Some treatment is uncomfortable, but it should never feel like you are doing damage. We work within what you can handle and explain what you should be feeling.

What should I wear?

Something you can move in, and that lets us get at the area we are treating.

Can I be seen in the evening?

Yes. We book until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.
