Acupuncture in Lower Sackville

Sometimes the body needs a little help finding its way back to balance. Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most trusted approaches for easing pain, releasing tension and helping you feel like yourself again, and at Radius it fits right alongside the hands-on, personalised care you already know us for. Whether you are managing a nagging injury, chronic tension, or simply the wear and tear of a busy life, we will build a plan around you.

What acupuncture can help with

Acupuncture involves placing very fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body to encourage circulation, ease muscle tension and support your body’s natural ability to recover. People commonly come to us for:

  • Back, neck and shoulder pain
  • Headaches and jaw tension
  • Muscle tightness and sports-related strains
  • Stress, sleep and general tension relief
  • Recovery support alongside physiotherapy or massage

What to expect at your visit

Your first appointment starts with a conversation. We take the time to understand what is going on, your history, and what you are hoping to get back to, because the best treatment is the one built around your goals rather than a template.

From there, Emily Parker, our registered acupuncturist, will walk you through the treatment before anything begins, so you always know what to expect. Emily practises in the Traditional Chinese Medicine tradition and works with acupuncture needling, moxibustion, fire cupping, gua sha and tuina. Most people find the experience calm and relaxing, and many describe a gentle heaviness or warmth as the session works. Afterward we will talk through a simple plan for how often to come in and how acupuncture fits with the rest of your care.

How acupuncture differs from dry needling

They use similar needles and they are often confused, but they are different treatments. Acupuncture is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is provided here by Emily, a registered acupuncturist. Dry needling comes out of Western musculoskeletal practice and is provided by our physiotherapists as part of a physiotherapy appointment. If you are not sure which one suits what you are dealing with, ask us and we will point you to the right one.
